He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. It couldn’t be possible, not even by a long shot, and yet there it was. A full-blown rebellion had started right under his nose within Capital City, and it didn’t look like it was stopping anytime soon. He thought everything was under control. No one should have been able to rise up against him, especially not this successfully. He had managed to put down the army of man—an army which at its peak boasted fifty million soldiers. No one should have even thought to try and rebel against the might of the Black King, and yet here it was.
Retribution knew leaving Dante to his own devices might have come back to bite him somehow, but he never expected this. Even if Judgment had granted Dante heightened intelligence, he shouldn’t have been able to do this. He shouldn’t have even been able to come back to this world from his own. Not only that, he shouldn’t have half the firepower he did. How was it possible that, with his return, Dante brought back the knowledge of magic and how to wield it? Dante couldn’t even use magic himself!
Regardless, there was no way this problem could spiral any more out of hand than it had already. Even if they did think it was possible to beat the Black King, they would soon find they were wrong. He would not allow them to make a fool of him, not when he had already proven that the most powerful army assembled in the world stood no chance against his might. Man had already learned the price of daring to spit in the face of God once, he would be damned if they forgot. They might believe they had a fighting chance, but Retribution would be sure to extinguish that spark before it ever had the chance to burn.
